In the heart of Memphis, near Beale Street, the riverfront, and the Orpheum Theatre, the Downtown Mobility Center gives the city a new point of arrival. Parking, cycling, ride share, retail, and pedestrian movement all converge within its seven stories, and light is what ties them together.

At street level, a continuous band of warm illumination marks the way in. It defines entrances, storefronts, stairs, and pedestrian routes, pulling people from the sidewalk into the building without a moment of hesitation. Above, integrated lighting carries that same clarity through the parking and mobility floors, keeping movement legible at every level.

The façade tells a different story by day and by night. Bronze and silver screens filter the structure in daylight, softening its mass. After dark, light passes back through those same layers, and the building turns porous, ramps, stairs, and passing cars all visible as quiet movement within the glow. Subtle color threads through the façade, adding depth without pulling attention from the rhythm of downtown around it.

The Downtown Mobility Center has been recognized with a 2024 Building Memphis Award for Best New Construction, Medium, a 2024 AIA Memphis Design Award, and a 2024 IPMI Award Honorable Mention for Stand-Alone Facility Design.
