Walter E. Washington Convention Center is three connected buildings designed to allow two streets to run through the complex and maintain the continuity of the neighborhood. The center is the city’s largest building and is listed in the Top 5 Convention Centers in North America. CM KLING paid close attention to sustainability and maintenance of the overall design as well as environmental impact. Extensive curtain wall glazing on the south façade is made transparent by illuminating the interior surfaces, creating an inviting feel to the large building. The grand ballroom has a GFRG ceiling structure with 50’ tall ceilings. Lighting was intricately woven into the ceiling pattern.

The registration hall added over 50,000 SF of new meeting spaces by converting the previous registration and open seating areas into multi-functional and configurable meeting rooms.
