The Walter E. Washington Convention Center’s design consists of three connected buildings, allowing two streets to run through the complex and maintain the continuity of the neighborhood.
The center is the city’s largest building and is listed in the Top 5 Convention Centers in North America. CM KLING + ASSOCIATES INC paid close attention to sustainability and maintenance of the overall design as well as environmental impact.
Extensive curtain wall glazing on the south façade is made transparent by illuminating the interior surfaces, creating an inviting feel to the large building.
The grand ballroom has a GFRG ceiling structure with 50’ tall ceilings. Lighting was intricately woven into the ceiling pattern.
